Madrid Spain, 1989, Rubén Carles was born into a musical household, inspired early on by his father, an accomplished jazz pianist an arranger. As a young adult, Rubén began to delve into the classeics, immersing himself in the sounds of the great jazz bassists like Ray Brown, Charles Mingus and Paul Chambers.
Rubén was awarded a full tuition scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston where he studied with masters such as John Patitucci, Hal Crook and Terry Line Carrington. After completing his performance degree he won the Conexus Scholarship to the masters program in Berklee Valencia. Ruben recently recorded his first album as a leader, Water Lily for Fresh Sound New Talent reccords, featuring master artists such as Roman Filiu, Borja Barrueta and Albert Sanz.
Rubén has toured or recorded as a sideman with bands such as: The Benny Golson Quartet, Jason Palmer Quintet, Perico Sambeat Quintet, Greg Tardy, Albert Sanz Trio, Roman Filiu Quartet, Javier Vercher Quartet, Phil Grenadier Band, Guillerno Mcguill Band, Ernesto Aurignac Quintet, amongst others.
